A clearer record of what comes in and what goes out.
Teaching is your work. Keeping track of its costs should fit around it. FirstDrive brings expenses, mileage and lesson payment records into the same workspace as your diary.
Join the launch waitlistRecord costs while they are fresh
Add expenses such as fuel, insurance, maintenance and cleaning to keep a consistent record over time. A short update during the week is easier to review than a pile of receipts at the end of the month. Use the mobile app for a quick entry, then the web app when you want more space to check the wider picture.
Keep mileage alongside your work
Record journeys and review mileage by period. Keeping an organised journey record helps you find the details later rather than trying to reconstruct a week's travel from memory. Your records still need to reflect the journeys you actually made and how you use your vehicle; the app cannot decide which costs are allowable for your circumstances.
Understand your lesson payment records
Booked lessons, lessons taught and money received are different things. Review the diary and money views together to understand the period you are looking at. Mark a payment when you have received it, and keep an eye on lessons still recorded as unpaid. FirstDrive records these arrangements alongside your teaching; it does not collect your pupils' lesson payments in the mobile app.
Review the month at your desk
Use the web app to review period totals and the expense records behind them. Export available reports to CSV when you want to work with the figures elsewhere or share records with your accountant. FirstDrive is an organisation tool for your driving instruction business, rather than a tax return service. Keep supporting receipts and check accounting decisions with your adviser.
